Happy New Year! Yes, it’s February.

Okay I’m a bit late with the whole Happy New Year 2019! But I figured better late than never. Am I right?!

So…Happy New Year!

2019 has been pretty great so far. It’s also a big birthday year for me. *cough* 40 *cough* I have a bunch of plans and projects to share so let’s just dive in.

Writing Updates

You may have noticed I haven’t posted about my writing since April 2018. That’s because there’s been nothing to post about. In June 2018 I stopped writing. Completely. As in hardly even journaling. Which is super weird for me.

It wasn’t writer’s block. It was me trying to figure out what the hell I was doing. No. Correction. It was me taking a break from trying to figure out what the hell I was doing.

I was in a dark place creatively. I needed to rest. So I stopped writing and waited. I wanted to see what would happened. Would I miss it? Or more importantly would I be happier without it.

For 6 months I observed my thoughts and feelings. And you know what? In the beginning I felt kinda relieved. There was no pressure to write, to query, to get an agent or a publishing deal. It felt good. I spent my extra time enjoying my fish keeping hobby (more on that later) and I just lived my best life. When thoughts about writing arose I’d tell myself:

Nope. We’re not doing this right now,

And go about my business. But it kept happening. I couldn’t stop thinking about my characters. They would pop up and I’d smile and think:

Huh, I wonder if they miss me as much as I miss them.

Which sounds bonkers. Unless you’re a writer. Then you’ll totally get me. By December I realized I was done resting and it was time to do some serious soul searching. And I did. I asked myself this very important question:

What do I want to accomplish with my writing?

I realized the answer was simple: I want to finish what I started. For me that means getting my book(s) into the hands of readers. It means publishing.

After weighing out my options I decided to travel down the self publishing road. Which is exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. It means planning, organizing, and basically learning everything I can.

But I’m happy with the decision. No, I’m actually ecstatic about the decision! 2019 will be the year I publish book one (The Reaper’s Bride) of my Urban Fantasy series, The Reaper Chronicles.

I’ll be blogging more information, like the release date etc., in upcoming posts. BUUUT if you really want to be the first to hear about my publishing journey (and maybe get some cool swag!) you can sign up to receive my newsletter HERE! Newsletter info will be different than blog info so don’t miss out!

Well, the writing update took over and this post is getting long so I’ll end here. Next time I’ll fill you in on my other projects. Stay tuned 😉
